Top marks have been given to an “outstanding” primary school.

Cold Norton Primary School has gone from “good” to “outstanding” in its latest Ofsted report, with the inspector’s only criticism being “too few opportunities for teachers to observe and benefit from the outstanding practice current in the school”.

The inspector lavished praise on the school’s two headteachers Patricia Dowsing and Lois Ashforth, describing them as “inspirational leaders” who are supported by “committed and energetic staff”.

It was also noted that pupils “learn well in all subjects and do much better than their peers nationally”.

The headteachers released a joint statement saying: “We would like to say that we are extremely pleased with the results and we would like to thank all the staff, governors and parents for their continued support to our fantastic school.”
