District: Halloween event at Plume
With Halloween fast approaching, activities have been laid on for both young and old.
Maldon District Community Safety Partnership and the council’s Sports Development Team are hosting a free event on Halloween night, October 31, at the Lower Plume School, Mill Road, Maldon, for the elderly and young people within the district.
The event will be split into two sections with a fish and chip supper at 5pm until 8pm for pensioners, overlapping with sport-fuelled workshops from 7pm to 9pm for young people aged 13-16.
Fifty residents are expected to enjoy supper at the school, and they will be served by the young people.
Later in the evening, those aged 13-16 will be able to take part in boxing, free running and parkour, street dancing and dodge ball.
Councillor Brenda Harker, chairman of the council’s Community Services Committee, said: “Halloween night can be a worrying time for some people when unwanted trick or treaters knock on their doors.
“I hope that this event will help to ease their fear and hopefully change their perception of young people.”
This event is free and transport can be provided for the older persons should this be required.
