Police have vowed to take action after a second car smash in a matter of weeks on an increasingly notorious Maldon road.

Firefighters were tasked to cut a woman out of her car after she lost control in Mundon Road at around 11:30am on Monday.

The silver Vauxhall Corsa did not hit anything and police closed the section of the road for an hour.

She was then taken to Broomfield Hospital for minor injuries.

This comes just a week after calls were made for drivers to slow down after a car careered off the road and destroyed a telephone box.

Mundon Road resident Sharon Brandford, 53, whose garden was ruined in the crash on September 23, said the driver was lucky to escape alive after he narrowly missed a tree and telephone pole.
