Maldon: Ruling brings riverside homes plan closer
2:30pm Friday 12th October 2012 in Local News
A controversial riverside development has moved a step closer after an appeal against the district council’s rejection of the finer details of the plans was part allowed.
Outline plans for a mixed use development, consisting of 93 homes, as well as offices and leisure facilities, to be built on the five-acre Sadds Wharf site at the end of Station Road, Maldon, were approved by a Government inspector in December 2009.
More specific elements of the proposals, including its appearance, scale and landscaping, were unanimously refused by Maldon District Council’s central area planning committee in February.
But following an inquiry in July and August, the council’s decision on appearance and scale of the development has now been overturned.
Its decision to refuse the proposed landscaping of the development has been upheld.
