Maldon district: Easier way to pay tax and rates
A new Maldon District Council service now allows residents an easier way to pay council tax and business rates.
The new scheme means people can sign up to pay by direct debit over the phone or online, without the need to complete a paper direct debit form.
So far the service is proving popular, according to a council spokesman.
Councillor David Sismey, chairman of the finance and corporate services committee, said “We are always trying to make things quicker and easier for our residents.
“We hope that this new facility will contribute in doing just that by providing an improved customer service and assist in promoting direct debit as the easiest and quickest payment method.
“The new service means that we can reduce delays in sending out and waiting for paper forms to come back.”
Residents can visit www.maldon.gov.uk/revenuesonline to make the switch or those without internet access can call 01621 854477.
