Bradwell: Adored pet nearly died after contracting tetanus Bradwell: Adored pet nearly died after contracting tetanus

A villager is urging owners to make sure their pets' tetanus jabs are up-to-date after her dog was put in intensive care.

Seven-year-old black labrador, Charlie, nearly died when he caught the rare disease through a sore on his paw last week.

Owner Michelle Barrell, 35, of Kingswood Court, Bradwell, noticed something was wrong when Charlie had a “fierce” look on his face one morning.

The communications officer for the Metropolitan Police said: “His face was going into spasm.

“His eyebrows looked really angry, he looked more like a bulldog.”

Mrs Barrell took Charlie to Edgewood vets in Purleigh the next morning, where it was confirmed he had tetanus.
