Latchingdon: Lorry driver speaks out after decade-long wait for MS diagnosis
9:00am Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in Local News
Steve Hawkins is supported by his caring family.
A lorry driver is trying to spread the word about MS after suffering with the condition for 10 years without a diagnosis.
Over the last decade, heath professionals had struggled to diagnose father-of-one Steve Hawkins’ baffling symptoms.
Mr Hawkins has frequently suffered with aches and pains, as well as “heavy” limbs, which feel as though they have been wrapped in “rolls and rolls of lead”.
In the past, Mr Hawkins, 41, of Heritage Way, Latchingdon, had always put these symptoms down to over exertion.
But in April, his health problems intensified and the former St Peter’s School pupil was forced to stop work for CJ Bardwell Ltd of Maldon and seek medical help again.
