Maldon: Help on hand for elderly Maldon: Help on hand for elderly

Help and support was on hand for the district’s older residents, with housing top of the agenda.

Maldon’s Promenade Park played host to last Friday’s Welcome Homes information event, which was organised by Maldon District Council ’s housing department.

Free advice on housing options and moving to more affordable or suitable homes, as well as information about heating costs, home adaptations, and home and garden maintenance was available.

St Peter’s Hospital’s healthy living team and advisers from One Place in Burnham and Southminster also offered advice about remaining healthy, active and safe in later life.

A spokesman for Maldon District Council said: “The event was a great success and was very well attended with over 100 people attending.

“Meeting the housing needs of older people is a priority for the council and the event was held in response to feedback the council has received about providing more information to older people and their families to help them enjoy their homes and live independently.

“Building on the success of day, the council aims to hold similar events for older people around the district in the future.”
