A primary school is appealing for the owner of an adventurous cockatiel to come forward.

The grey bird with yellow markings was found on Purleigh Community Primary School grounds on September 12 and was eventually caught after biting one of the learning support assistants.

Headteacher Joseph Figg said: “It was quite convenient because it was our biodiversity day, which is when we log all the plants and animals on the school grounds - and this year we had a cockatiel!"
