A Maldon man has been awarded a top accolade from a university.

Roy Darby, who was the NHS chief executive and chair of Buckinghamshire New University’s Council, was given the honorary fellow award by the university.

He was recognised for his dedication and commitment to the university at a graduation ceremony last week, which also saw Sir Terry Wogan receive an honorary doctorate.

Mr Darby said: “It was a wonderful experience to serve on the University Council and to play a part in the development of a great University."
