Bradwell: Wind farm battle is lost Bradwell: Wind farm battle is lost

Campaigners claiming the construction of a wind farm would unnecessarily kill wild birds have lost their fight to halt the project.

With some construction work already underway, protest group Bradwell and Tillingham Tackling Lost Environment (Battle) had hoped to derail RWE Npower Renewables’ ten-turbine wind farm at Hockley Farm in Bradwell at the High Court at the 11th hour.

Kathleen Eaton, a member of the group, claimed birds would be likely to collide with the turbine blades and be killed, leading to wildlife protection laws being broken.

But Judge David Waksman QC last week rejected her call for an injunction, saying there was no issue to be tried by the court, and allowed construction to continue.
