Cold Norton: Fury over 'ban' on kickabouts Cold Norton: Fury over 'ban' on kickabouts

Parents are up in arms after a primary school showed playtime kickabouts the red card.

Cold Norton Primary School, in St Stephens Road, allegedly introduced the ban on informal child-led football after a girl ruptured her spleen towards the end of last term.

The school has dismissed claims of a blanket ban on football and insists football clubs are now available with a coach both at lunchtime and after school.

A spokesman said: “Football has never been banned from the school.

“It was suspended for the last two weeks of the summer term while we put into place a skill-based football club.”

Although parents have to pay for the club, the school insists it is open to all and no child would ever be excluded because of an “inability to pay”.
