TWO footballers have put pedal to the metal to raise money for charity.

Lee Souster, of Falcon Mews, Maldon, and Glen Pettitt, of Sandpiper Close, Heybridge, biked from London to Paris in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support this month.

The duo, who both play for Goldhanger Argyle Football Club, spent five days cycling nearly 500km through English and French towns and countryside to finish under the Eiffel Tower.

Graphic designer Mr Souster, 28, said: “It was much harder than we thought it was going to be.

“It was very hilly in Kent which we were not used to so we found that very difficult."
