Burnham: Cefas housing plan is scrapped
The plan to turn an “eyesore” office block in Burnham into 14 houses has been scrapped.
Developers have withdrawn their planning application to turn the former Government fisheries laboratory, Cefas, in Remembrance Avenue into 14 houses.
The building, which was specifically built for the fisheries department, was closed in 2006, but has been vacant since.
The plans entailed the demolition of the building and seven town houses and seven detached houses to be built in its place.
This comes just weeks after Burnham town councillors voted to object the plans at a town council meeting, amid concerns of access.
Councillor Neil Pudney said: “Remembrance Avenue is quite a little tiny avenue and it would ruin it."
