Organisers of one of Burnham’s biggest events are concerned about a lack of public support.

Burnham’s annual carnival, which sees thousands of people lining the streets to watch the illuminated procession travel through the town, has had a surprising lack of people applying to set up stalls.

At a recent carnival meeting only six stalls had been applied for, when there is normally up to 60 lining the High Street.

Caroline Sarychkin, one of the organisers of the carnival, said: “We don’t have as many as we normally have at this point in the year.

“We normally have stalls going right down to the quay."
