A young electrician has scooped a national award for his top knowledge and technical expertise.

Samuel Cox, 21, from Gloucester Avenue, Maldon, beat thousands of competitors from across the country to win the Apprentice of the Year award.

Former Plume School pupil Mr Cox, who works for NG Bailey electrical company in London, said he was thrilled to have won the prize, awarded by the Electrical Contracts Association and Edmundson Electrical.

He said: “I am over the moon, it feels amazing to have done so well and is something really good to put on my CV.”
