South Woodham Ferrers: Hotel owner's car park plans spark complaints

A hotel owner has sparked a tirade of complaints after applying to change a public square into a car park.

Jeff Dolbear, 65, who owns Oakland Hotel, in Reeves Way, South Woodham Ferrers, wants to put extra car parking for his hotel in the Market Square.

But town councillors, fire fighters and local residents have opposed the plans and have even launched a petition against them.

Over 140 residents and businesses have signed an online petition, over worries the loss of a public amenity will detract from the town’s beauty and concerns over health and safety.
