A former top flight footballer has invested in a new home from home - a Dengie pub.

More renowned for pulling on the red shirt of Arsenal than pulling pints, former Premier League footballer Ray Parlour, who made more than 450 appearances for the Gunners during his 12 year stint at the club, is now co-owner of the Ferry Boat Inn in North Fambridge.

Parlour, who won 10 England caps during his career and still turns out for non-league side Wembley FC, took over the riverside pub in Ferry Road with business partner Jeff Binks, of South Woodham Ferrers.
