Woman dies in A12 crash
9:02am Saturday 11th August 2012 in Local News By Andrea Collitt
A WOMAN has died following a collision on the A12 in the early hours of this morning.
The collision happened on the London-bound stretch of the road between junctions 25 (Eight Ash Green) and 26 (Marks Tey), around 1am.
The woman, aged 29, was struck by a white Toyota Auris and certified dead at the scene.
She was from the Romford area.
The 44-year-old female car driver, who lives in the Marks Tey area, was treated for shock by paramedics at the scene.
A section of the road was closed until 8am today while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We believe the woman crossed the carriageway after having walked off from a vehicle she had been travelling in. Its driver had stopped in a layby.”
Anyone with information in connection with this fatal road crash is urged to contact Essex Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or they can email the team at collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk
