Chelmsford: Man robbed after allegedly having drink spiked Chelmsford: Man robbed after allegedly having drink spiked

A Brentwood man believes his drink was spiked shortly before he was subjected to a street robbery in Chelmsford.

The attack happened between midnight and 2.30am on Saturday, July 7, when a 20-year-old man was walking in the area of Market Square and Duke Street.

He was then approached by a person or people who punched him in the stomach before stealing a two-figure sum of cash and his mobile telephone.

Investigating Officer, DC Seff Manesh, said: "This man had been to the opening night event at Evoke and was looking to return home.

"Unfortunately, he cannot recall any contact he had with anybody after he left the nightclub.

"We have looked at town centre CCTV and nothing has been picked up which is why we’re asking people to recall events from that Friday night/Saturday morning and contact us with information.”

After the robbery, the victim contacted his father who travelled to Chelmsford to pick him up from just outside the town centre.

He did not require any medical treatment.

Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Chelmsford police station on 101.
