Maldon: Push to carry more cargo by sail
A sailing trust is hoping to encourage more firms to consider sending cargo by sail. Beer from Maldon’s Mighty Oak Brewery was loaded onto a Thames Sailing Barge to be distributed to pubs across Essex this month.
The work is being carried out by Maldon’s Sea-Change Sailing Trust to demonstrate that cargo can still be sent by sail today.
Administrator Don Ramsay said: “From an environmental point of view, sailing goods has a huge impact and is very cost effective.
“We are working to moving goods back to sail."
