Maldon: Talk on army nicknames and traditions

Poison dwarves and “queer objects on horseback” will be the topic of a light-heartened talk.

Combined Military Services Museum historian Clive McPherson will be giving a talk about the nicknames and traditions of the British Army Regiments from 1660 to the present day.

He said: “With yet more fine old regiments facing the axe, now is an appropriate time to look back with pride on the achievements of our superb old regiments.

“This particular talk will be an amusing celebration that will appeal to those who enjoy the human side of military history as well as those interested in the detailed military analysis. “

The talk will take place at the museum in Station Road, Maldon, at 7pm this Sunday, July 29.

Doors will open at 6pm. Tickets are £7, which include refreshments, and are available from the museum on 01621 841826 or Maldon Tourist Information Centre 01621 856503. For more information, visit www.cmsm.co.uk
