Maldon district: Nursery children enjoy own mini Olympics Maldon district: Nursery children enjoy own mini Olympics

Maldon was given a glimpse into the future as dozens of aspiring athletes took part in their own mini Olympics.

With London 2012 now less than two weeks away, about 200 young children from eight of the district’s nurseries and pre-schools gathered to take part in their own adaptation of the international spectacle last Friday.

The event, which was held on Plume School ’s playing fields, attracted a number of families.

James Haskey-Jones, manager of Maldon-based Tiggywinkles Nursery, which organised the fun-filled day, said: “It’s not often that we do anything as a group. It was a community thing really. “There was an amazing atmosphere and everyone was mucking in together.”
