Stow Maries: Festival expansion to go ahead
A festival has been allowed to expand its numbers despite villagers fighting against the plans.
Maldon District Council gave permission to the organisers of the Stow Maries-based Brownstock Festival to increase the crowd numbers from 4,999 to 5,999 on Thursday.
The organisers did originally want to expand the crowd to 6,999 but the council decided against it.
The planned 2,000 increase was due to increasing popularity of the event.
