Maldon: Museum's soldier school back for the summer
Aspiring young soldiers will be put through their paces throughout the school summer holidays.
The Combined Military Services Museum’s soldier school is back by popular demand after the success of last year’s course and will give children a small taste of what life is like in the armed forces.
The course, which includes one weekly session for six weeks, will begin at the museum in Station Road, Maldon, next week and continue until August 30 when a passing out parade will be held.
The first session next Thursday will focus on military drill and the importance of teamwork, with future sessions covering topics such as camouflage and concealment, map reading and survival skills.
The courses run from 11am to 12.30pm each Thursday and will be led by ex-marine Clive McPherson, who is also the museum’s historian.
Each session is priced at £4 and children must be accompanied by an adult.
