A pig farmer in Tolleshunt Major says a landmark £50million pork deal between the UK and China should help keep prices down on supermarket shelves.
Fergus Howie, 37, who runs Wicks Manor Farm, in Witham Road, with his family, is hoping the new trade deal with China - the biggest market for pig meat - will enable farms and abattoirs to profit from the sale of pig parts that are not traditionally popular with diners in the UK.
He said: “It all helps return money back into the pig market, which should help stop food inflation."
