Get ready for Bradwell Dog and Flower Show

BRADWELL is getting ready to celebrate barks and blooms at its annual village show.

The 73rd Bradwell Flower and Dog Show is being held on Saturday August 8 at the village hall and field in South Street.

There will be many classes within the show, including handicrafts, flower arranging, grow your own vegetables, childrens’ entries and many more.

There will also be a bouncy castle, games and live music throughout the afternoon.

The popular dog show gets the day going at 12.30pm, with the rest of the events starting at 2pm, running through until 5pm.

Jean Allen, one of the show’s organisers, said the committee is hoping for good weather and more entries this year.

She said: “It would be lovely to have a lot of people bringing their dogs - it’s a fun thing - and to have more people entering their flowers and crafts, it doesn’t matter if you’re not experienced.

“There will be something for everyone.”

The future of the show had been in doubt between 2006 and 2007 when a number of committee members left but since then, the show has been scaled back in order to save it from being cancelled altogether.

This is something which has worked well.

Jill added: “It has still been very successful, although we haven’t quite got the grandness of a few years back, people have said how much they have enjoyed it and it’s still working which is great.

“It’s not just for the Dengie, we’re hoping to attract people from across the district, everyone’s welcome.”

A presentation of prizes will round off the day’s events.

Admission is 50p with all proceeds raised going towards the cost of future shows.
