Two sets of siblings receive sporting grants

TWO pairs of siblings have received a boost to their Olympic ambitions following grants from Maldon District Council.

Stirling Taylor and Chay Taylor, regional sailing dinghy racers, were each awarded £300 to cover expenses at major sailing events.

And Rebecca and Emma Pitt, national judo competitors, were both given £500 to cover training and competition costs.

Speaking at the meeting of the community services committee on Tuesday July 7 council leader Penny Channer said: “We have got the Olympics in 2012 and should be supporting these young people.”
