Serious accident leaves road closed and man in hospital

A SERIOUS accident on the A130 has left one man in hospital and has caused severe delays to rush hour traffic by the Rettendon Turnpike junction with the A132.

A blue Land Rover Discovery, with one male passenger, ended up on the embankment on the Southend bound side of the A130 at about 2.35pm today - Friday July 3.

The road was originally closed in both directions - with the Essex Air Ambulance expected to land on the Chelmsford bound carriageway - but this side has now reopened.

The Southend bound side was still closed at 4pm with drivers advised to seek alternative routes.

The male driver has been taken to Basildon hospital by ambulance with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
