THE leadership of Maldon District Council will remain the same for the next year following re-election of members at its annual meeting.

The council’s statutory annual meeting was held on Thursday where membership for committees, leader and chairman positions were decided.

Henry Bass, who covers the Wickham Bishops and Woodham ward, will once again serve as chairman, with Neil Pudney of Burnham North serving as vice chairman.

Conservative councillor Mark Durham, also of the Wickham Bishops ward, will remain as leader of the council, with Adrian Fluker of Southminster ward staying as deputy leader.

All of the district councillors will remain in their positions, with the majority keeping their roles within overview and scrutiny, community services, planning and licensing, audit and appointments committee.

Elections for district councillors are due to be held in 2019.
