A CHORAL society made a welcome return to a newly refurbished hall with a compilation of operettas.

The Southminster Operatic and Chroal Society returned to its original home of Memorial Hall in the village following its refurbishment, having previously taken many of their major productions to Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham.

Last weekend's performance of '101 Not Out!' was a riotous compilation of nearly all of W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan's operettas from the 19th century.

The production was in the form of the life story of the hugely successful partnership of thee renowned artists.

The production was directed by Brigid Maine with musical direction by Laurie Maine. This new partnership hopes to take the society on to more successful production starting with a concert on December 1.
