This week we bring you the news a heroic police officer has been commended for his bravery after he saved a woman stuck in the mud.

Sgt Benjamin Felton helped rescue the woman after she became trapped nears Downs Road in Maldon last February.

His brave actions, along with the fire crews who also attended, ensured her life was saved.

Chief constable Stephen Kavanagh praised them for their quick thinking and said he was “proud of each and every one of you”.

Sgt Felton deserves recognition for his heroic acts which required him to risk his life to protect others.

The vast majority of police officers go above and beyond and almost all behave in an exemplary manner.

But on the same page we also have stories on officers who have faced misconduct hearings, questioning their behaviour.

On some occasions there are examples of where their behaviour falls below what is expected.

It is right that both the good and bad examples are highlighted.
