Film showing barge matches and races through the years will be screened in Maldon.
The Blackwater Sailing Barge Match Association has organised an evening of a screening of film clips of barges.
These barges along with their smaller siblings the East Coast Sailing Smacks have worked the waters of the Blackwater and the Thames Estuary for the last two centuries.
It takes place at Maldon Town Hall on Market hill on Saturday, February 24.
Doors open at 7pm where drinks and light refreshments will be available, the evening will commence at 7.30pm.
The first half of the entertainment will consist of film of the 2017 match featuring Sailing Barges and Smacks racing in the Blackwater.
There will be an interval where the bar will be open, followed by some archive film of previous races dating back to 1960s.
After the films there will be an auction of some photographs of sailing barges.
Tickets available on the door numbers are limited so arrive early to ensure a seat
