CHOIRS from around Essex will be coming together in Maldon this weekend for a big hearted fun day.

The Essex branches of The BIG Sing Community Choir will be meeting on Saturday at Maldon Town Hall for a massive fun day, which will be suitable for all ages.

A whole host of events will be going on in the hall during the day, alongside the choirs that will be performing throughout the morning and afternoon.

They will have a full free entertainment programme of magic from Mr Wiz, music from DJ Badger Beats and “tiny” singing taster workshops for the toddlers.

There will also be live singing from The BIG Sing Community Choirs and LITTLE Singers whilst people browse the craft and second hand stalls, enjoy the light refreshments, take their chances on the tombola or perhaps relax and have their caricature taken.

There is something for the whole family during the day.

With choirs spanning Essex, Suffolk, Kent and London, the BIG Sing have more than 900 members, with their fundraising force one to be reckoned with.

They make, bake, sew, run, arrange social quiz and curry nights and on top of this sing at numerous community events and in just one year they have raised more than £21,000 enabling the charity to start their projects.

To date, they have given more than 1,700 primary school children up to ten hours free singing tuition and hosted more than seven concerts for the children to have an amazing performance opportunity to sing to their friends/family.

The BIG Sing is also Maldon’s largest community choir with more than 100 members who meet every Monday at Plume Academy on Fambridge Road from 7pm to 9pm.

The LITTLE Singers meet there from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, and the ever popular TINY Singers (up to four years old) meet at The Black Cat Coffee Shop on Wednesday 10am. They support all of Maldon’s community events.

The fun day takes place this Saturday at the town hall from 10am to 2pm, and is free to attend for all.
