THE owner of a caravan park has praised Essex Police for their rapid response to an attempted burglary.

Security staff at Creeksea Place Caravan Park, near Burnham, were doing their rounds on Boxing Day when they discovered people attempting to break into several of the 150 caravans stationed at the site on Ferry Road at around 5pm in the evening.

The site is closed during the winter season meaning all caravans were unoccupied.

The security guards phoned the police who arrived within ten minutes and chased three suspects to Burnham.

Three people were later arrested and taken to Chelmsford Police Station.

Geoff Lindsey, owner of the caravan park, said: “On behalf of myself, our staff and the owners of these caravans I wish to thank profusely the police for their superb response in our hour of need.

“It could be considered that the level of these offences is somewhat low level, but the misery and aggravation that criminals can cause to all concerned can be just as great as that in more serious cases.

“Often is the case that when people try to break into the caravans, the damage they end up causing often costs more than to replace anything in them that gets stolen.

“At this time of year especially, we all too often hear of criticism of our social services, so it is extremely welcoming to praise the splendid efforts of our police force.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating following a burglary at an address in Ferry Road, Burnham.

“It happened at around 5pm on Tuesday, December 26. It is not believed anything was taken.

“A 17 year-old boy from the Southminster area has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft.

“A 17 year-old boy and 18 year-old man, both from the Burnham-on-Crouch area, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

“All three have been released under investigation.”
