CHILDREN from a Maldon pre-school have been visiting care home residents singing songs, playing games and talking.

Pupils at Maldon Community Pre-school went to Lodge Care home, in Lodge Road, Maldon, to keep residents company.

They were invited along by the care home, but Vikki Mitchell, from the preschool, said it had been something they had been looking to do for some time.

She said: “The children had a brilliant time and it was lovely to see them bringing so much happiness to the residents.

“They sang and read stories to each of the residents there and everybody joined in with the parachute game.

“The staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. For the elderly people who may not get a lot of visitors it is nice to have the children come round and be some company in a way.”

The visit, on Wednesday, November 15, was such a success that the preschool will now be visiting the care home every month.
