A CAR crashed into a building in South Woodham Ferrers.
Firefighters and ambulance crews were called to the scene in Main Road at 11.46am today.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle which had crashed into the outside of a building.
"Firefighters worked with paramedics to help release one casualty trapped as a result of the collision.
"The casualty was released by 12.15pm and left in the care of the ambulance service."
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Main Road, Woodham Ferrers, today at 11.45am.
"One ambulance, one ambulance officer, two rapid response vehicles, four units from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended the scene.
"One patient was taken to hospital in a serious condition.”
