FUNDRAISERS around the Maldon district helped vulnerable young ones to raise money for this year’s BBC Children in Need.

The annual, nationwide fundraising event see people across the country taking part in various competitions and holding sales to raise money for the children who need the most care and help.

Children in Need day took place on Friday. Many children attended school in non-uniform or fancy dress, giving donations to the cause, including Macy and Emily Drew and Jack McCallum in Maldon.

The Maldon Carnival Court attended Maldon’s Tesco Extra on Friday dressed in bright yellow Pudsey outfits, selling cakes to shoppers.

Princess Caitlyn Wilson and Queen Daisy Hawkes raised a massive £226.65 on the day.

On Maldon High Street, Holden Estate Agents carried out a more unusual fundraiser, with director Ryan Holden sitting outside on the pavement in a bathtub full of baked beans for more than four hours.

His work paid off with the estate agents taking in more than £900 of donations from the single day of fundraising.

The charity has this year raised more than £50 million for vulnerable children, with more donations still being counted throughout Essex and the country.
