A MALDON pre-school has received a glowing report from inspectors after it was rated ‘outstanding’.

The Friary Pre-School, in Carmelite Way, was praised by Ofsted for the quality of the teaching, effectiveness of the leadership, and the personal development of children at the facility.

The inspection, published on Friday, rated the pre-school outstanding in all elements of its care.

Inspector, Jemma Hudson said: “Teaching is inspirational. Staff’s enthusiasm and professionalism is evident in the extremely high quality of activities they provide.

“Children thrive in the extremely welcoming environment and quickly settle, and the staff are very positive role models.

“All children, including those with special educational needs or disabilities, make consistently high rates of progress and are extremely well prepared for the next stage of their education.”

Management at the pre-school was also identified as a strength by Jemma Hudson.

She added: “The manager ensures staff have an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection issues.

“They have exciting ideas and are working with others to put plans in motion to help them enhance their links with the local community even further.

“Management and staff have an excellent understanding of development and educational requirements.”

Denise Holden, pre-school manager, was thrilled with the report, and praised the work of her staff.

She said: “We are delighted with our Ofsted judgement. We strive to provide child care to a very high standard and are proud that this has been recognised in this report. It is a real team effort and everyone has played their part.”
