PLANS for more than 80 new homes in Heybridge have been approved by a council.
Maldon District Council has approved Bellway Homes’ proposals for 84 new homes on land north of Holloway Road in Heybridge, forming part of the North Heybridge Garden Suburb which will see up to 1,100 homes introduced.
The council had previously approved outline permission for up to 100 homes in the area, but this was reduced to 84 this year, with 30 per cent being made up of affordable housing.
The site was identified as a key area in the district’s recently approved Local Development Plan.
It will include seven one-bed apartments, six two-bed apartments, 34 two-bed homes, 22 three-bed homes and 15 four-bed homes.
The application was approved at an extraordinary meeting of the council on Thursday.
