A BURNHAM dog lover has written a novel about the adventures of his beloved canine he adopted from a shelter.

Graham Lea, who has lived in Burnham for more than 30 years, has written “Jasper’s Journey Home” under the pen name Dog Tired.

Graham adopted his five-year-old Spanish street dog Peanut, a black and white Jack Russell Terrier, from the AA Dog Rescue in Latchingdon, and after bonding he was inspired by what Peanut had been through before being saved from the streets.

He said: “I never intended to become a self-published author, but I have always enjoyed writing a yarn for personal pleasure.

“Peanut got me thinking, what has little dog seen and done? Living on the street dodging and diving to find food and stay alive he must be a cute little cookie. Where has he travelled what antics and trouble has he gotten into, did this little dog ever have a home and family that loved and cared for him.

“So I opened a word doc and started tapping keys to write a story loosely based on what Peanut’s adventures might have been.”

The book tells the story of Jasper, a dog who must find his way home after getting lost chasing a cat.

Proceeds from the book will go towards various dog shelters and charities.
