A NEW roof has been added to a memorial shelter in Promenade Park.
The Queen Mother memorial shelter received its new roof this month after hard work from Friends of Promenade Park for the benefit of all visitors.
Henry Bass, Chairman of Maldon District Council unveiled the new roof.
He said: “Maldon District Council is pleased to work with the Friends of Promenade Park group for the benefit of everyone who comes to this fantastic place.
“We are very proud to be able to provide and continue to invest in this popular and much loved park for the people of Maldon District and visitors to the area.
“The park supports the council’s objectives, by encouraging healthy lifestyles, providing outdoor space and promoting the area as a destination of choice.
“The Friends of Prom Park have worked hard to see the project finished and I would like to thank them for their efforts over the years.
“Securing funding for projects like this is not easy and they have achieved what they set out to do. I would also like to thank Tesco and their Bags of Help community grant scheme which has funded the new roof.”
