THE anniversary of a worldwide successful car brand will be celebrated with a parade of gleaming vehicles this weekend.

Italian sports car company Ferrari this year celebrate their 70th anniversary of trading, and will be running a parade of their finest cars in Essex which is due to come through Maldon.

Official Ferrari dealers Lancaster Colchester will be running the parade which will take place on Saturday.

It will begin in Billericay at 1.15pm, where they will make their way to Chelmsford for their static car display, before the parade continues to Maldon, where it enters via Spital Road and will proceed down the High Street before finishing in Colchester.

Whilst the company was initially founded in 1939, going by the name of Auto Avio Costruzioni, its development as a manufacturer is recognised as 1947 when the first Ferrari badged car was produced.

In 2014, Ferrari was rated the world’s most powerful brand by Brand Finance, and continues to be a huge figure in Formula 1.

In May 2012, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO became the most expensive car in history, selling in a private transaction for $38.1 million.

The parade is expected to be travelling through Maldon at 4.45pm on Saturday.

Lancaster Colchester has invited any Ferrari owners wanting to take part to get in contact.
