MORE than 30 businesses attended an event to celebrate the relaunch of Burnham’s Chamber of Commerce.

The event, held at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club last week, saw business people from across the district gather to network and celebrate Burnham business.

Councillor Penny Channer, chairman of the Council’s planning and licencing committee, said: “The Council is committed to economic development in the area and we want to make the Maldon district a great place to live and to do business.

“Events such as these allow people to network and build connections. The Chamber is a great resource for local entrepreneurs and a key partner for the Council.”

Those in attendance were given presentations by Jack Ellum from Maldon District Council, and Charlie Fillingham from Strutt and Parker Farms.

Adele Bovingdon, owner of AB Marketing Services and joint-founder of the Local Business Clinic, also spoke to the business people gathered to pass on knowledge about the importance of social media in modern business.

Robin Bassil, Chairman of the Burnham Chamber of Commerce, said: “This event was an excellent opportunity for people to network and celebrate their business. We want the new look Chamber to work for local businesses and I invite all local businesses to contact us to see what we can offer.”
