A HEYBRIDGE woman raised more than £1,000 to donate a motorbike to Action Africa and the Salvation Army.

Megan Phillips, from Heybridge, completed a sponsored walk in August to raise money for a motorbike to be donated to Isiolo, one of the hardest hit drought areas in Kenya.

The bike will be used to transport water as well as other errands.

Megan said: ”I have been involved in Action Africa since 2013 and have been on two trips to Kenya.

“I visited the territorial headquarters of the Salvation Army for Kenya east in April, which is in Nairobi, to see the bike handed over to that territory.”

A spokesman for Action Africa added: “The new motorbike for Isiolo is now officially in service. Isiolo is one of the hardest hit areas in Kenya during the time of drought.

“Thanks again to team member Megan Phillips for her commitment and dedication in making this possible. We know it will make a huge difference to the SA officers and Projects staff in this areas.”
