TOUGH questions were more than a match for a pensioner from Maldon, who was knocked out in the final of Fifteen to One.

Retired IT consultant Chris Morris, of Newnham Green, Maldon, put up a strong fight in the final of the Channel 4 show - which aired on Friday – making it to the second round before being eliminated.

The show, presented by QI’s Sandi Toksvig, sees 15 contestants take part in a tough general knowledge quiz, with each contestant given three lives which are deducted when they answer incorrectly.

The final brought back winning contestants from the past 15 shows, with Chris having blitzed the competition to win his previous show in March.

Chris managed to bag several correct answers, including the origin of the ‘Spinning Jenny’ machine which was made by a Lancaster engineer and the history of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy.

However, in the second round it was a question on musical composers which had Chris flummoxed, where he incorrectly guessed John Williams as the composer for the 1994 film The Lion King. The correct answer was Hans Zimmer.

Chris said: "I'm proud to have made it to the final seven, it was still a jolly good bit of fun and I'm very glad I went on.

"The best thing was watching it back when it was live and getting all the questions wrong again that I messed up the first time.

"Before I said the answer on the show I would think 'I know that!' and then I'd saw the same answer and get it wrong.

"Clearly I've not learnt too much from my mistakes, but at least I don't have to regret anything."
