OUTLINE plans to 13 new homes adjacent to a playing field will be decided at appeal.

Strutt and Parker submitted the plans for Glebe Meadow in Southminster on behalf of The Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Finance.

The 1.83 hectare site to the rear of Southminster Primary School would have had 13 homes and public open space.

But Maldon District Council rejected the plans in July on the grounds the site was in a “sensitive rural location outside the settlement boundary for Southminster”.

It added that the bid would result in a development which would have an “unacceptably intrusive urbanising effect upon the site adversely affecting the intrinsic character and beauty of the countryside.”

But now the Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Finance has appealed the decision.

A hearing will be held to determine the appeal. A date and time for the hearing has yet to be arranged.
