A STREET dance troupe based in Burnham will be battling it out for a chance to represent Great Britain in the World Championships.

Epic Street Dance, based at Trackside Gym in Burnham, comprises dancers from across the district aged from nine to their twenties.

After a hugely successful series of qualifiers, more than 30 students will be headed to the K2 arena in Crawley to compete for a prestigious place on the IDO (International Dance Organisation) British street dance team to represent the country in the World Championships.

Soloists, duos, groups and teams from Epic Street Dance will be competing for a place on the British team, with an additional competition being held on the same day for Intermediate and beginner dancers to become British Champion.

Manager Carlie Boler said her students have gone from “strength to strength” having worked extremely hard to push themselves.

She said: “The advanced students have worked so hard pushing themselves to get better and better week by week and have had some amazing results due to this. Each qualifier competition we saw someone gain a place in the finals and a place for this upcoming finals weekend. Our youngest advanced student going to finals is nine and our oldest is one of the teachers, so we have a wide range of dancers taking part.

“This is such an amazing achievement just to have made it his far, some of the advanced students have beat up to 50 dancers at recent competitions to get to the finals and be placed, some even winning.”

The IDO British Street Dance finals will take place on April 8 and 9, with the World Championships taking place in Denmark later in the year.
