THE works of an internationally acclaimed artist will go on display in Maldon.

A selection of works by Scottish artist Barbara Rae, CBE, will be exhibited at Hayletts Gallery in Maldon.

Rae’s works feature vibrant abstract images inspired by her travels.

Born in 1943 she has taken inspiration from the atmospheric and mysterious colours of Scotland and Ireland in her latest screenprints.

Her pictures combine the influence of landscape and travel with her love of travel unleashed after she was awarded a travel scholarship in 1966.

Rae studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1961 to 1965 before working in Spain and France during her scholarship.

Among Rae’s many awards are the Major Scottish Arts Council Awards 1975 and 1981 and the Hunting Group Prize 1990.

She also lectured in Art at Aberdeen and Glasgow School of Art.

Her works will be on display and available for sale at Hayletts Gallery, Oakwood House, High Street, Maldon.

The exhibition takes place from January 28 to February 25.

The gallery is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday.
