A COUNCIL will be supporting a Christmas appeal by donating festive food to help those most in need.

Maldon District Council is supporting the Maldon Food Pantry Christmas appeal.

Items collected will be distributed as food parcels to those most in need during the festive period.

A collection point will be in place at the council offices in Princes Road, Maldon, until December 13.

Miriam Lewis, leader of the council, said: “I am delighted to again be supporting the Maldon Food Pantry.

“I know what a difference receiving one of the parcels can make and hope that the local community will join us in donating festive themed goods such as gravy, stuffing, mixed nuts, Christmas cake or pudding, mince pies and any kind of chocolate, sweeties, selection boxes and the like".

The items donated will be handed over to Maldon Food Pantry where dedicated volunteers make up food parcels which are distributed to local people every week.

These extra treats will be given as a seasonal bonus.

People can donate at the council offices from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and from 8.30am to 4.30pm on Fridays.
